Phoebe committee OKs applicants, reappointments

ALBANY, Ga. -- After a closed session discussion of a Jan. 8 credentialing report, The Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital Professional Affairs Committee moved a list of staff additions and reappointments to the full hospital board for consideration.

The early January report from the medical executive committee, listed two physicians recommended for addition to the medical staff -- Dr. Mark Khiilnani and emergency medicine; and Dr. Robert Hunt, oral and maxillofacial surgery.

The same report also recommends 21 physicians for two-year reappointments:

  • Medicine: Dr. Anend Jillella and Dr. Christina Kile. Ob/Gyn, Dr. Nancy Hendrix, Dr. Wallace Mays and Dr. Christopher Robinson. Pediatrics, Dr. Edward Baybe, Dr. Bernard Maria, Dr. Cindy Neunert and Dr. Cheryl Tolliver.
  • Radiology (all telemedicine): Dr. Auveek Basu, Dr. Tore Detlie, Dr. Ben Eggleston, Dr. Amir Fassihi, Dr. Stanlely Nyarko and Dr. Monte Arlingo. Pathology, Dr. Roni Bollag and Dr. Lloyd Cook.
  • Surgery, General: Dr. Charles Howell. Neurosurgery, Dr. Troy Middleton and Dr. Robert Gross. Orthopedic, Dr. David Cearley. Urology, Dr. Carl V. Hancock Jr.
  • The report also listed three physician resignations: Dr. John Gleason, pediatrics; Dr. William Cross, emergency medicine, and Dr. Haritha Challa, hospitalist.

The medical staff at Phoebe takes on the role of looking at an applicant's qualifications, in turn making a recommendation to the professional affairs committee before a final decision is made by the full board -- which generally meets on the first Wednesday of every month.
