BLAKELY -- Mr. Justin Hendrick "Bill" Gowan, 86, died Monday evening, January 28, 2013 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Al. Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 11 AM at the Centerville United Methodist Church. Rev. Jay Reppert and Rev. Billy Harper officiating. Burial will follow in the Centerville Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers will be; Charles Mathis, Olin Thompson, Bert Weber, Jerry Creel, Edd Kelley, Danny Chandler and Jim Chancy. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men of the Blakely Senior Center. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday night from 6-8 PM.
Mr. Gowan was born in Early County, August 29, 1926 to the late Jim Gowan and Trudie Justice Gowan. He was a member of the Centerville United Methodist Church and a retired farmer. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his wife; Lottie Ruth Page Gowan. Several brothers and sisters.
Mr. Gowan is survived by 2 sons: Jimmy Ray Gowan and wife Ruth of Rogersville, Al. and Justin Hendrick (Little Bill) Gowan Jr. of Newton, Ga. 3 daughters: Annie Ruth Pierce of Quincy, Fl. , Mamie Ola Tyler & husband Ben of Louisville, Al. and Marion Aunspaugh and husband Wayne of Blakely. 1 sister: Joyce Buckman and Darrell Harrison of Bestville, Ohio. 17 Grandchildren and 23 Great Grandchildren and 12 Great-Great Grandchildren.
