ALBANY -- Major Robert G. Probst, USAF (ret), died Monday, January 28, 2013 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
His funeral service will be Thursday, January 31, at 2 PM at Crown Hill Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends Thursday one hour prior to the service at Kimbrell-Stern.
A native of Clayton, MO, he had lived in Albany since 1959. Major Probst is a decorated 20 year veteran of three wars (WWII, Korea and Viet Nam). He has been recognized for many achievements over the years. He was the recipient of the Distinguish Flying Cross and the Combat Readiness Metal
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, and his parents, Ella and Robert L. Probst.
Major Probst is survived by his daughter, Donna Smith (Don), sons, Robert G. Probst Jr. and John Probst (Sandy), two grandsons, two granddaughters and one great grandson.
