Flood watch set for area through Friday

ALBANY, Ga. — The National Weather Service has set a flood watch for much of Southwest Georgia until Friday.

The watch went into effect at 8 p.m. Tuesday and will continue through the week as periods of heavy rain brought by the intersection of a Central American and Western Carribean moisture plume are expected.

The watch means conditions could be favorable for localized flooding along low-lying areas and along creek and river beds.

The advisory includes Southwest Georgia, Southeast Alabama and the panhandle region of Florida.
