BLAKELY -- Mrs. Dora Mae Hayes, 94, died Saturday morning, July 6, 2013 in Tifton, Ga. . Mrs. Hayes was a resident of Edison, Ga. for many years. Her funeral will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 3 PM in the Vincent United Methodist Church, Bluffton, Ga. with the family receiving friends beginning at 2 PM until funeral time at 3 PM. Burial will follow her funeral in the church cemetery. Rev. Jackie Williams officiating. Active pallbearers will be; Roy Ashley, Lynn Gray, Charles Cox, Henry Harrell, Terry Worthy and Ted McClendon. Grandsons: Bill Brown Jr., Chris Brown, Duane Flippo, Steve Flippo, Charles Phelps, Marc Phelps, John Hayes and Lukas Hayes will serve as Honorary pallbearers.
Mrs. Hayes was born November 7, 1918 in Opelika, Al. to the late John Oscar Childers and Dora Eastridge Childers. She was retired from Editex Manufacturing Co. and was also retired as a Dietician of the Edison Nursing Home. She was a member of the Vincent UMC but had moved her membership to the Edison UMC. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, L.R. Hayes, 2 sisters: Ruby C. Williams and Lucille C. Clark and 3 brothers: Robert T. Childers, John Fletcher Childers and J. B. Childers.
Her survivors include three daughters: Thelma Hayes Brown (Billy) of Ft. Gaines, Ga., Mildred Hayes Flippo (Wymon) of Tifton and Shirley Hayes Phelps of Lee County, Ga.; one son: Glenn Hayes (Paula) of San Antonio; TX; and two sisters: Alice C. Langford and Annie C. Rooks, both of Columbus, Ga. There are 13 Grandchildren, 12 Great-Grandchildren and 4 Great-Great-Grandchildren.
