Georgia's sales tax holiday for 2013 is August 9th and 10th.

The first day of school for most area students will arrive before the sales tax holiday. Both Worth County and Terrell County return to classes on July 29. The first day of school for Dougherty County and Mitchell County is August 5. Baker County students return on August 7. Sherwood Christian Academy and Lee County start back on August 9. Deerfield-Windsor students are not scheduled back to school until August 15

The usual sales tax will not be levied on clothing items, including footwear, with a sales price of $100 or less per item. Examples of exempt clothing include, but are not limited to, dresses, pants, underwear, coats, hats and mittens, athletic clothing, sweaters, t-shirts and more.

Also exempt from sales tax are computers. Exemptions include cellular devices, furniture and computer-related accessories designed for recreational use. A single purchase with a sales price of $1,000 or less includes items such as central processing units, scanners, laptops, desktops, data storage, printers, zip drives, keyboards, hard drives, ink cartridges and more.

General school supplies to be used in the classroom or classroom-related activities with a sales price of $20 or less per item are also exempt. Such items include: book bags, calculators, glue, pencils, crayons, notebooks and notebook paper, markers, scissors, folders, book covers, staplers and staples, dictionaries, highlighters and more.
