ALBANY — On July 29, Sherwood Christian Academy’s football program is hosting the inaugural Eagle Invitational 7 on 7 Football Tournament.

As many as 12-14 Teams from Georgia, Florida and Alabama are scheduled to compete, and the first games begin at 11:00 and the championship is scheduled to occur between 4:30 and 5:00.

Those teams that are already confirmed to participate include: Participating Teams are: Sherwood Christian Academy, Flint River Academy, Lee Scott Academy, Southland Academy, Valwood School, John Paul II, Aucilla Christian, Calvary Christian, Abbeville Christian, Tift Area School, Community Christian, Brookwood School and Valwood.


FORMER LEE COUNTY STAR POSEY HONORED FOR WORK IN CLASSROOM AT UGA:

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – A total of 59 student-athletes from the University of Georgia were named to the 2012-13 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll, as announced by SEC Commissioner Mike Slive.

That included rising sophomore and former Lee County baseball star Jess Posey, who is coming off a great freshman season in which he batted .297 with 12 RBI and two homers in just 30 games played, 16 of those being starts.

In order to be eligible for the honor roll, each student-athlete must have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above, been on scholarship or a letter winner, completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit, and been a member of the varsity team for the sport’s entire NCAA Championship segment. The honor roll is based only on grades from the 2013-13 academic calendar.
