Suspect in jewelry store theft arrested at McDonalds

ALBANY, Ga. — Officers of the Albany Police Department nabbed the prime suspect in two jewelry store thefts.

According to Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the APD, Scott Anderson was taken into custody at the McDonald's restaurant on North Slappey Boulevard about 6:25 p.m. Wednesday.

Anderson is accused of stealing two gold necklaces from Allen's Jewelers, 1155 Dawson Road, after pretending to be considering them for purchase.

He is also believed to have stolen two rings from Shirin Jewelers, 2601 Dawson Road, on Monday.

Officials say Anderson's charges include robbery by snatching, theft by taking, theft by deception and obstruction of an officer.
