Christians should speak out when wrongs occur

Letter to the editor

I was watching the local news and there was a report on crime and neighborhood watch groups. The law enforcement official was stressing the importance of the statement that if you “see something then say something.”

As I thought about that, it occurred to me that the statement should also apply to Christians. The news has reported over and over that our society is now in favor of abortion, gay marriage, legalization of pot, etc. I know in my heart that this is not true, but where are the Christians in this collection of surveys and opinion polls? Why are our voices not being heard? I believe that we are in our churches, behind our closed doors of our homes and doing our best to not be confrontational in society. Just recently it was reported that a state will allow transgenders to decide if they want to be male or female and go into either the male or female bathroom. Has society gone haywire?

I bet that if the local government announced that they were reappraising our property and that would cause a drastic change in our property taxes, we would be at the next public meeting to express our disapproval over this change. Well, our society is being dramatically changed in a very negative way and we as individuals and churches are basically being silent in the public arena.

When you see something wrong in our education system and curriculums, in our court decisions, in our news reports, in our legislatures, and in our entertainment industry, then say something!
