Postal worker charged with theft of mail
ALBANY, Ga. — A local mail carrier has been arrested and charged with stealing mail, officials say.
According to Agapi Doulaveris with the U.S. Postmaster General, Nathaniel M. Johnson, was arrested Tuesday in Albany and charged with three counts of theft of mail by employee and three counts of obstruction of correspondence.
Secret Service officials said Johnson’s arrest came as part of a continuing joint investigation by the Secret Service and the office of the Postmaster General. The case will be prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s office, officials said.
ALBANY POLICE: The Albany Police Department responded to at least 30 incidents on Wednesday and the early hours of Thursday, available reports show. The incidents included:
— Terroristic threats on the 500 block of Pinson Road;
— Wanted person on the 200 block of East Road and at the intersection of Front Street and Oglethorpe Boulevard;
— Theft by taking on the 1400 block of Silica Drive, the 100 block of Georgia Avenue, the 400 block of Hodges Street, the 10 block of Wayne Way and the 300 block of West Oglethorpe Boulevard;
— Theft by conversion on the 1200 block of Clark Avenue and the 1600 block of South Slappey Boulevard;
— Interfering with a city officer on the the 600 block of West Tift Avenue;
— Aggravated assault on the 100 block of North Cleveland Avenue;
— Disorderly conduct on the 1200 block of Parker Avenue;
— Burglary on the 2500 block of Crescent Drive and the 1300 block of Mercantile Drive;
— Domestic violence on the 300 block of Moultrie Road;
— Financial transaction card theft on the 300 block of West Broad Avenue;
— Identification theft on the 900 block of South Street;
— Assault on the 900 block of South Street;
— Theft by shoplifting on the 200 block of Cordele Road;
— Theft of lost or mislaid property on the 2000 block of Stratford Drive;
— Deceased person on the 600 block of North Madison Street and the 10 bloc of Dobbs Drive;
— Public indecency on the 700 block of West Whitney Avenue;
— Criminal trespass on the 400 block of South Harding Street;
— Identification fraud on the 2600 block of Dawson Road;
— Financial transaction card fraud on the 2400 block of Osler Court;
— Suspended license on the 500 block of Slappey Boulevard;
— Theft by deception on the 1600 block of Maryland Drive.
DOUGHERTY POLICE: The Dougherty Police Department responded to at least 14 calls on Wednesday, available reports show. The incidents included:
— Traffic accident on the 1400 block of Antioch Road;
— Entering auto on the 900 block of Branch Road;
ALBANY FIRE: The Albany Fire Department responded to at least eight calls on Wednesday, available records show. The incidents included a vehicle fire, EMS assistance, activated alarms, unauthorized burning and trash fire;
DOUGHERTY EMS: The Dougherty Emergency Medical Service responded to 59 calls on Wednesday, available records show. There were 51 medical calls and eight trauma calls.
The medical calls included six respiratory issues, three chest pains, three seizures, two altered mental statuses, two cardiac arrests, one fainting, one diabetic issue, one mental health call and 23 various medical calls.
The trauma calls included six falls and two miscellaneous calls.
