Tractor driver injured in Worth County wreck

WARWICK, Ga. — A Worth County man was seriously injured Thursday as he drove his tractor near Warwick.

According to Cpl. Andrew McKenzie of the Georgia State Patrol, Albert Gill, of Oakfield, was traveling south on Georgia Highway 300 near Warwick about 8:30 a.m. when he was slammed into from behind by an SUV driven by Brian Weirich, of Warner Robins.

Gill was thrown from his tractor when it overturned and sustained serious injuries, McKenzie said. Gill was transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, where McKenzie said he understood him to be in stable condition.

Weirich told officers he had not seen Gill or his tractor before impacting it with his SUV. No charges have yet been filed and the case remains under investigation, McKenzie said.
