ALBANY, Ga. — Every year, residents of Albany and the surrounding areas have an opportunity to help sick children throughout South Georgia simply by picking up the phone and making a call during the annual Children’s Miracle Network Radiothon.
This year’s event, a partnership between Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital and Clear Channel Radio stations B100 and 97.3 MusicNow, is scheduled for Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The radiothon will be broadcast live from the Wetherbee Lobby at Phoebe.
Money raised will go directly to Children’s Miracle Network hospitals to support children’s services at Phoebe.
“The people of Southwest Georgia have always been generous when giving to Children’s Miracle Network and we want people to know that every penny donated during our radiothon stays right here to help the children at Phoebe,” said Amanda Biery, Children’s Miracle Network coordinator. “Last year we raised about $45,000 during the radiothon. These funds help bring lifesaving equipment and other support to children who are faced with a hospital stay.”
This year’s event will feature Leesburg native and current Miss Georgia, Carly Mathis.
