ALBANY -- James C. "Jimmy" Carter, 78, of Albany, died Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the Willson Hospice House.
His funeral service will be at 2 PM on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Central Baptist Church with interment to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Greg Davis will officiate.
Mr. Carter was born in Toombs County, and had lived in Tift County prior to moving to Albany. He graduated from Tift County High School in 1953. He worked for Southern Bell for 30 years, retiring in 1985. Mr. Carter served in the U. S. Army Reserve. He was a member of Central Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, member of the Crusaders Sunday School Class, and as a greeter as people entered the Church for worship services.
He is survived by his wife: Anna Taylor Carter, Albany; 2 daughters: Kathryn C. Moseley (Ronnie), Tifton, Ann Carter, Albany; a son: Jim Carter (Karen), Macon; 3 grandchildren: Christy M. Short (Scott), Tifton, Amanda Carter, Atlanta, Patrick Carter, Macon; 3 great grandchildren: Ashley Short, Mackenzie Short, Hunter Short, all of Tifton;2 sisters-in-law: Jenny Cottle, Ty Ty, Grace Holloway (Skip), Macon; a brother-in-law: Buddy Taylor (June), Ocala, FL; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends at Kimbrell-Stern on Monday from 6-8 PM.
