Ambulance flips in traffic accident

ALBANY— An EMS vehicle en route to a traffic accident was struck by another another vehicle Saturday, receiving serious damage, police officials say.

According to a report from the Dougherty County Police Department, a pickup truck came to slow rate of speed in front of the EMS unit as it traveled on the 1900 block of South County Line Road on an emergency call.

When the EMS unit attempted to pass, the truck made a left turn, causing the two vehicles to collide and the EMS unit to roll onto its side.

Six people were transported to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for treatment, officials say.

No information was available Saturday as to the condition of the vehicles’ occupants or on any citations.
