ALBANY — One of the best local tennis tournaments in Southwest Georgia — if not the best — commences this weekend.
The 11th annual Stonebridge Open, sanctioned by the USTA and run by Stonebridge Tennis Center head pro Randy Jobson, will be held this weekend, and the deadline to register is today.
The cost is $43.50 for one event and $46 for two events. Fee includes T-shirt, balls, two meals, beverages and awards. The action will kick off Friday evening with the annual wine & cheese party from 6-8:30 p.m., and then lunch will be served to players Saturday afternoon, followed by a cookout Saturday evening for dinner.
The divisions are as follows:
---Women’s 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 singles and doubles
---Men’s 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 singles and doubles
---Men’s Open singles and doubles
---Women’s Open singles and doubles
---Mixed Doubles 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, 9.0
Players are limited to two events and all events are single elimination. Any junior players wishing to participate who are under the age of 18 must compete in the open division.
