TIFTON, Ga. — Crystal Hendrix hasn't been heard from for nearly a month, with no real clues or leads toward what may have happened to her.
Hendrix, who was more than eight months pregnant at the time of her disappearance, was last seen at her checkup at the Tifton Women's Clinic. On Thursday, Tift County Sheriff, Gene Scarbrough, frustrated at the lack of progress in finding Hendrix, offered a $500 reward for information toward her whereabouts. Upping the reward ante has prompted others to chip in.
"It's up to $1,400 now," Scarbrough said, "and it's all from personal contributions."
Scarbrough said that "nothing at all" had surfaced toward finding Hendrix or anyone who might be responsible for her disappearance, despite the use of helicopters from the Georgia State Patrol, cadaver dogs and other location techniques.
"We all hope and pray that she's alive and well," Scarbrough said. "But even if she's dead, it's going to cost some money to find her. The longer we go without success, the smaller our chances are."
