Robbers tie Tifton store employees

TIFTON, Ga. — The Tift County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery of a Dollar General, where employees of the store were tied up by the robbers.

According to officials, as two employees of the Dollar General, 1290 U.S. Highway 82 East in Tifton, were leaving the store at closing Saturday when they were approached by a black male armed with a handgun.

The employees told police the gunman ordered them back inside the store, where they were joined by a second armed black male. The victims reported that their hands were then bound by the gunmen, who were dressed in black with their faces covered. The victims also stated that the robbers took their wallets and searched through them for cash.

Sheriff’s officials stated that the masked gunmen took an unspecified amount of cash from the employees and from the business, as well as tobacco and alcohol products. Officials believe that after completing the robbery, the suspects fled on foot. No injuries were reported.
