Col. Stephen Madeiros, commander of the Marine Depot Maintenance Command, Albany, was the guest speaker at Albany Technical College’s Spring Honors Day on Tuesday. Nearly 50 students were recognized for outstanding academic achievement by the college.
ALBANY, Ga. — Albany Technical College warmed up for its spring commencement exercises by recognizing 45 students during Honors Day on Tuesday at the college’s Kirkland Center.
Honor Graduates Recognized
Presidential Scholar (awarded for 3.95-4 GPA): Daniel Bryan, Dana Daughtry, David Griffin, Justin Howard, Frances Pearson, Christina Reynolds and Jeremiah Tiller;
Honors with Distinction (awarded for 3.75-3.94 GPA): Guerry Baron, Brandon Carter, Reginald Clay, Robert Coker, James Greene, Greg Hamlin, Justin Kendall, Jamie Martin, Wendy Newell, Robert Newton, Lavoski, Richardson, Ross Roddy, Kyra Spence, Ricky Strawder, Brandon Thomas and Valerie Watson;

The spring honors graduates were recognized in the following areas: Collegiate DECA, Honors with Distinction, National Technical Honors Society (NTHS), Presidential Scholar, SkillsUSA and General Education Development (GED).
The speaker for the event was Col. Stephen Madeiros, commander of the Marine Depot Maintenance Command, Albany.
Maderios advised the graduates to continue their success in life by treating it like a marathon instead of a sprint.
Albany Tech will hold its spring commencement ceremonies Friday at 7 p.m. at the Albany Civic Center. The speaker will be Lt. Cmdr. K. Moore, commanding officer of the U.S. Coast Guard Station Atlantic City and Coast Guard Station Small Great Egg.
