Leslie man wins lottery prize

ATLANTA – A Sumter County man has won more than a half-million dollars in a Georgia Lottery game, lottery officials said.

Gary Latham, 62, a self-employed welder from Leslie, matched the five numbers in the May 29 Fanatasy 5 drawing to win the $565,620 jackpot.

“I almost had a heart attack,” Latham said in a release from the lottery office. “I can’t believe it. It still hasn’t sunk in yet. First I plan on giving money to charity and paying the bills,” Latham said.

Latham and his wife have one son and four grandchildren.

Winning numbers from the May 29 Fantasy 5 drawing were 1-8-11-28-30.
