Two jailed in Sumter County pot bust

AMERICUS, Ga. — Two Sumter County residents have been arrested on marijuana charges, officials said.

According to officials, Sumter County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Amber Danielle Conner, 20, and Donnell Kitchens, 21, Tuesday on charges of manufacturing marijuana.

Eight marijuana plants were discovered in the 300 block of Pennington Road in Americus and had a street value of around $8,000, officials said.

The plants were spotted through an air search by the sheriff’s office in cooperation with the Georgia National Guard, the Georgia State Patrol and the Governor’s Task Force for Drug Suppression, officials say.

Conner and Kitchens were taken to the Sumter County Jail.
