ASU coach Mike White resigns December 17, 2014

ALBANY -- Lenora Marie (Nora) McCoy, recently of Jonesboro, GA, died early Tuesday, June 4, 2013, after a brief illness. She was 96. Mrs. McCoy, a longtime resident of Albany, GA, was a devoted mother and a dedicated member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church. She was active in numerous religious, civic, and social organizations during her 54 years in Albany and was employed for 25 years at Joe Brashears Steel, Inc.

Mrs. McCoy, originally Lenora DiLuzio of Philadelphia, PA, was the widow of Matthew J. McCoy, Sr., also a native of Philadelphia, PA. They arrived in Albany in 1952 when Matt, Sr. was transferred to Albany to help open the now closed Merck Chemical Plant. They were married for 62 years.

Mrs. McCoy was predeceased by her daughter, Mary McCoy Mauldin, of Jonesboro, GA, wife of James L. Mauldin. She leaves three surviving children to cherish her memory including Matthew J. McCoy, Jr. of Brookhaven, GA, husband of Ann P. Turner; Noreen M. McRae of Plano, TX wife of William M. McRae; and Michael D. McCoy of Gainesville, FL, husband of Carol Piatnek McCoy.

Mrs. McCoy was also predeceased by one grandchild, Catherine Shannon McCoy of Atlanta, GA. Mrs. McCoy has eight surviving grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Respectively, they are Erin Sjostrom, Matthew J. McCoy, III, Chann McRae, Christi McRae, Sean McCoy, Katie McCoy, Kevin McCoy, Alex Mauldin, Kylie McRae, Maggie Sjostrom, Will Sjostrom, Henna McRae, Elle McRae, Samuel McCoy, and Maddix McRae.

A deep debt of gratitude is owed to Miss Nora's angels in waiting, Krista Nelson, Crystal Flaherty, Kay Crawley, Dana Barton, and Lynn Allen whose loving care comforted Mrs. McCoy in her final years.

A Memorial Mass was held Tuesday, June 11 at 11:00 AM at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church, Jonesboro, GA with Father John Koziol, OFM, Pastor celebrating. A luncheon followed in the Parish Hall on site. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the St. Philip Benizi Endowment Fund, 591 Flint River Road, Jonesboro, GA 30238.

On Wednesday, June 12 at 2:00 PM Father Finnbarr P. Stanton, Pastor of St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Albany will lead a service at Crown Hill Cemetery Mausoleum where Mrs. McCoy will be entombed with her late husband. Those who wish to honor Nora's memory may make memorial contributions to St. Teresa's School Scholarship Fund or Old St. Teresa's Church Restoration Fund, 421 Edgewood Lane, Albany, GA 31707.
