ALBANY, Ga. — The third annual Day With a Cop is geared for food, fun and an opportunity to hang a human face on local law enforcement, said Kawaski Barnes with the Albany Police Department.
According to Barnes, the free event, which is scheduled Saturday at 10 a.m., is also a chance for private citizens to meet and mingle with local police.
“It’s to help build our relationship with the community,” Barnes said. “It’s a great place to bring your kids. We’ll have bounce attractions, face painting and a balloon toss, so it’ll be a lot of fun. We want people to know we’re here to protect them and help them any way we can.”
Barnes said there will be representatives at the event from agencies and organizations including Peach State Health, Pop Warner Football, the Lily Pad, Albany Technical College and others.
According to Barnes, the Day With a Cop event, which is scheduled to conclude at 2 p.m., is paid for strictly through personal and business contributions.
