Albany woman places in Miss Alabama pageant

ALBANY, Ga. — Kelsey Richter from Albany was third runner-up at the recent Miss Alabama pageant.
Richter, a vocalist, sang “I Dreamed A Dream” from the Broadway musical “Les Miserables.” She competed as Miss Cullman Area. The areas of competition included individual interview, swimsuit, talent, evening gown and onstage question.
She also won the overall Quality of Life award for her community service work with her platform “Hospice: A Servant’s Heart” and her work with Children’s Miracle Network, the national platform for the Miss America program.
The 51 contestants also interviewed with a scholarship panel of judges, and Richter was awarded multiple scholarships.
Richter is a graduate of the Ida Moffett School of Nursing at Samford University. She is a nurse in the Cardiac Care Unit at the Children’s Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham. She is currently a graduate student at Samford University in the Family Nurse Practitioner program.
Richter, 23, is the daughter of Greg and Pam Richter of Albany. She also is a graduate of Sherwood Christian Academy.
