Boy, 7, wounded in shooting

ATLANTA — A 7-year-old boy is recovering after being shot in the stomach in northwest Atlanta Sunday night.

Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones said the shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. on Mango Circle, in a neighborhood off Northwest Drive.

Channel 2 Action News reported that the child was apparently caught in the crossfire when the suspect shot at two cars.

"Apparently, there was a disagreement with the occupants of the two vehicles that came down the street, and when he saw those vehicles, he apparently opened fire," Atlanta police Major Lane Hagin told Channel 2.

The boy, whose name has not been released, was in stable condition at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston.

No arrests have been made.
