Pedestrian struck and killed by car

ALBANY, Ga -- A 31-year-old woman was struck and killed by a car as she walked on Harding Street this morning.

According to police, Natosha Charmane McCray was fatally injured when she was struck by a black, 2000 Chevrolet Impala driven by Demetria LaShae Harris, 26. Albany Police Department spokeswoman, Phyllis Banks, said Harris struck McCray near the intersection of Oglethorpe and Harding Street as McCray walked south on Harding.

Police accounts state that Harris then continued in her vehicle to strike the corner of a building in the 800 block of West Oglethorpe Boulevard, then crash through a fence. The vehicle stopped after contact with a tree on the 800 block of West Highland Avenue, Banks said.

According to the APD report, Harris and her passenger, Kevoski Ware, 23, were transported to a hospital for observation and treatment. The incident remains under investigation with charges pending against Harris, police officials say.
