'Idol' schedules Tifton auditions

TIFTON, Ga. — Aspiring singers ages 15-28 can take the first step in performing on "American Idol" on July 13 at a conference center here.

WFXL-TV, the Albany affiliate of the Fox Network, will conduct the Southwest Georgia auditions for the 2014 "American Idol" program 8 a.m.-4 p.m. July 13 at the University of Georgia Tifton Campus Conference Center on RDC Road just off Interstate High 75.

Officials with Fox 31 say that participants can preregister online at http://bit.ly/fox31tiftonidol to guarantee an audition spot, or register 8 a.m.-11 a.m. at the event. The winners at the Tifton audition will receive a guaranteed audition with accommodations at the next stage of auditions in Atlanta on July 26. The Atlanta auditions will be conducted in front of "Amercian Idol" show producers.

To participate, a man or woman must be 15-28 years old as of May 16 and eligible to work in the United States. Participants will need to have a valid photo ID and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Official registration and audtion rules can be found at the website listed above. The 2014 "Idol" season starts in January.
