Sinclair Broadcast Group says that it has entered into an agreement with Barrington Broadcasting Group to buy 18 television stations, including WFXL-TV Fox31 in Albany, for $370 million.
Sinclair will operate or provide sales services to another six stations, according to a news release issued Friday. If approved by the Federal Communications Commission, the move will spread Sinclair’s influence over 15 markets and reach 3.4 percent of television households in the U.S.
According to its website, once the deal goes through, Sinclair will own and operate, program or provide sales services to 112 television stations in 61 markets.
