WASHINGTON — Tifton Congressman Austin Scott sponsored legislation this week that he says would protect the privacy of Americans from government drones.

"I have introduced H.R. 972 to protect individual privacy against unwarranted governmental intrusion through the use of drones. You'll be hearing more soon," Scott posted on his Facebook page Friday morning.

The bill, which was introduced Tuesday, as been assigned to the House Committee on Judiciary for consideration. The "Preserving Freedom from Unwarranted Surveillance Act of 2013" would ban government drones from collecting information on Americans without a court-ordered warrant.

Yes, it is about time to stop govt. spying using these drones. It violates the 4th and 9th Amendments to the US Constitution. Finally someone is standing up for the constitution on this.

Too bad, I thought they were going to monitor our borders for us. They said those attached to blimps could stay up for days in good weather. Now we are going to outlaw them. Do we always have to shoot ourselves in the foot? If this passes, what do you think will happen with all the video cameras that now monitor the Public at large? Like the good Fryer said, you might have to retrain this guy after every coffee break, because he certainly hasn't researched this very much.
