ALBANY -- MG Sgt (Ret. USMC) Andrew Gubitti, 91, of Leesburg, GA died Monday, March 11, 2013 at the Willson Hospice house following a lengthy illness.
Mr. Gubitti's funeral mass will be 2:00 PM Thursday, March 14, 2013 at St Teresa's Catholic Church with interment to follow in Crown Hill Cemetery with full military honors. Rev. Steve Pontzer will officiate. The family will receive friends at 6 PM, Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at Kimbrell-Stern with a prayer service to begin at 7:30 PM.
Andrew, a native of Wellsburg WV, was a loving and kind husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend to all. He was a loyal dedicated 30 year marine in the USMC Corp. His theaters of service were WWII (a survivor of Pearl Harbor), Vietnam (multiple tours) and the Korean Conflict. He loved to bowl. He was a member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus (4th degree), VFW, DAV PVA, and a recipient of two purple hearts. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Antoinette Bonnaci Gubitti, his sisters: Thelma Sue Pack, Catherine Cacace, and Theresa Wilson, and Florence Scarfo.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Notni Gubitti of Leesburg, his daughters: Teresa Willis of Albany, and Cynthia Gubitti of Jacksonville, FL;, his son Stephen Gubitti and wife Rebecca of Fort Meyers, FL, his grandchildren: Jennifer Hargis, Danielle Roberts,and Shaun Roberts, his great-granddaughter Kaytlin Davis, his brothers: Johnny Gubitti of Little Washington PA, Joey Gubitti of MI, and Santo Gubitti of Weirton WV; his sisters Florence Scarfo, of Weirton, WV, Christine Novak of Detroit MI, and Francis McAndrews of Weirton, WV; and numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.
