Horse show season to begin for the DCSC

ALBANY — The Dougherty County Saddle Club will host its first two shows of the season beginning on Saturday the Hunter/Jumper Arena will begin at 9 a.m. The Open Performance Arena will begin at 10 a.m. at 2924 Lonesome Road.

March 16, HJ, 9 a.m.

March 16, Open Performance, 10 a.m.

April 13, Open Performance, 10 a.m.

May 4, Fun/Running Show, 11 a.m.

May 18, Open Performance, 10 a.m.

July 13, Open Performance, 10 a.m.

Aug. 17, Open Performance, 10 a.m.

Sept. 14, Open Performance, 10 a.m.

Oct. 19, Open Performance, 10 a.m.

Nov. 16, Open Performance, 10 a.m.

The new officers for the year are: President Donna Johnston, Vice President Linda Appleman, Treasurer Melinda Rich, Secretary Mike Gonzales and Parliamentarian Tommy Pagent. Board members are Ricky Stroud, Vicki Harris, Carol Rathel, Heather Nichols and Marissa Hargrove.

The saddle club will offer a variety of events this season including showing horses in Hunter/Jumper, Performance, Dressage, Running, and just for fun. There will also be trail rides.

Volunteers are needed throughout the season to help with concessions and various other duties with hosting a show.

Membership is $25 for an individual and $35 for a family. This membership offers a chance at winning year end awards and provides a reduction in class fees. An application with an explanation of rules is available at www.docosaddleclub.com, this is a new web address or can be picked up at a show or meeting.

The Dougherty County Saddle Club’s goal is to make horseback riding fun and safe. The club offers riding opportunities for all skill levels and nearly all riding disciplines.
