HERES A BRIGHT SIDE OF ALBANY: THE DCSS IS FINALLY HAVING IT'S FOOT PUT TO THE FIRE BY THE GA DOE. FINALLY THE TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATORS ARE ON NOTICE TO DO YOUR JOBS OR OUT THE DOOR YOU GO. NEW BOARD MEMBERS ARE IN PLACE AS WELL AS A NEW SUPER. I EXPECT THE END RESULT TO BE POSITIVE FOR ALL CONCERNED.

Thanks, Carlton Fletcher, for supporting The Bright Side.
It's probably a Condition of Employment right now at the Albany Herald. Hey, Jennifer Maddox-Parks-Hypen......what's your Bright Side submission?

So are we allowed to debate Bright Side posts, or do we just agree on everything?
VSU 2 months ago
Good point! Sherwood you have a great sense of humor.

THE MODERATOR COULD STOP THE UNNECCESSARY CENSORSHIP AND TIMELY POSTINGS OF COMMENTS.

LET EVERYONE POST SOMETHING THEY FEEL IS POSITIVE. LIKE-MINDED COMMENTERS WILL CREATE A THREAD.

Did you forget that typing in all caps is the same as yelling?

NO I DID NOT. I DO IT FOR VISUAL PURPOSES.

I agree we should debate; it is allowed in the Squawkbox. That's a "bright" idea!

I disagree. I discovered the best music ever on Napster back in 2000. Maybe the quality wasn't the same, but you could not beat the price.

Whether it be vinyl or something else, the best music was from the fifties and sixties. Whether you like country, rock, easy listening, etc.

On the bright side, maybe Bubbavetrureel will not post anything here. We can only hope.
VSU 2 months ago
Or bubbasmith (same difference) but it would be on the brightside if they didn't post.

The spiel amongst audiophiles was that vinyl was an exact duplication of music while digital is an approximation. Picture a sine wave on a chart. Vinyl is that sine wave while digital is a stair step approximation. Technically speaking they are correct, but when the stair steps gets very small the human ear cannot detect the difference.

Not seeing how this "Bright" fits the intended purpose of the column. Sounds more like a squawk.

Nice to see the Bright Side generating more comments than the Squawk Box. The Heralds devious plan to get these grumpy old men in front of their computers to expand their horizons is working!

I figure it will keep the usual suspects hard at work :)
VSU 2 months ago
but a lot of these comments on this brightside seem to be making fun of it or going off topic just like the squawkbox, so not really much difference.

. . . . and neither the twain shall meet . . . . . really?!

Vinyl is the second best after Live music.
8 track was the worst, but oh would it bring back memories!

If the situation doesn't need fixing, why comment? For example, I saw a driver the other day in downtown Albany with no cellphone to her ear, no cigarette between her fingers and she signaled to turn right! What's the point? If/when you have something positive to say about Albany (and please find something! lol), it can be posted in the squawk section as well.

Ho hum.

The best music will always be Family Christmas Carols or the Jam session while the hog cooks at a Family BBQ. Always have, and always will love that kind of music. It has some real heart.

I thought the Bright Side was created so those commenting could point out something nice about Albany rather than the many negative remarks we often hear about our old home town.

It's like they say..."The more things change, the more they stay the same"

Two non-profits featured prominently on the front of today's Albany Herald!? Just feature two every day and within a year you will have hit them all......that is all the ones there are NOW but by then there'll probably be a couple hundred more. ?!
