ALBANY — Two brothers have been charged in connection to an aggravated assault that took place on Marie Road last week, Albany police officials say.
Carlos Sherman and James Sherman Jr. have been charged in connection with an incident that occurred just before 10:30 p.m. on Friday on the 100 block of Marie Road. The Albany Police Department responded to the scene that night in reference to a fight and found the victim lying on the ground with a laceration to his abdomen, reports show.
The victim told officers he was cut when he was fighting with someone. Witnesses at the scene named Carlos Sherman as a possible suspect, and he was transported to the APD Law Enforcement Center for questioning, police said.
Carlos Sherman has been charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery and possession of a knife during the commission of a crime. James Sherman has been charged with being a party to a crime, aggravated assault and aggravated battery, police officials said Monday.
ALBANY POLICE DEPARTMENT: The Albany Police Department responded to at least 23 incidents Saturday, Sunday and into the early hours of Monday, available reports show. The incidents included:
— Driving on a suspended license on the 300 block of East Oakridge Drive and on the 900 block of North Westover Boulevard;
— Loitering, obstruction of free passage on the 300 block of East Oakridge Drive;
— Entering auto on the 1900 block of Groveland Road;
— Giving a false name and date of birth to an officer on the 2400 block of West Gordon Avenue;
— Marijuana possession on the 1100 block of Oakridge Drive;
— Assault on the 900 block of Ninth Avenue and on the 700 block of Cantrell Lane;
— Theft by shoplifting on the 2600 block of Dawson Road;
— Theft by taking on the 300 block of Radium Springs Road and on the 700 block of West Oglethorpe Boulevard;
— Soliciting to persons in vehicles on the 1100 block of Gillionville Road;
— Criminal damage to property in the 2nd degree on the 1200 block of West Gordon Avenue and on the 300 block of Grant Place;
— Harassing phone calls on the 1200 block of Kingstown Court;
— Domestic dispute (unfounded) on the 1200 block of Maryland Drive and on the 200 block of Cannon Avenue;
— Vandalism on the 600 block of Sands Drive;
— Burglary in the 1st degree on the 2100 block of Beachview Drive;
— Graffiti on the 700 block of West First Avenue.
DOUGHERTY POLICE: The Dougherty County Police Department responded to at least nine calls on Sunday, available reports show. The incidents included:
— Traffic accident on the 4000 block of Moultrie Road.
ALBANY FIRE: The Albany Fire Department responded to at least 22 incidents from Friday through the early hours of Monday, available reports show. The reports included a chemical hazard at Albany State University, a vehicle accident, grass fires, unauthorized burnings, several activated alarms, trash fires and a cat in a tree.
DOUGHERTY EMS: The Dougherty County Emergency Medical Service responded to 66 calls on Sunday, available reports show. There were 45 medical calls, 20 trauma calls and one assistance call for the Albany Fire Department.
The medical calls included, but were not limited to, seven respiratory issue calls, five chest pain calls, three seizure calls, two fainting calls, one mental health call and one miscellaneous pain call. The trauma calls included, but were not limited to, six auto accident victims, four falls, three gunshot victims and one laceration.
