ALBANY -- Charlie was born April 28, 1928 in Leary, Georgia to the proud parents of Everline Jones Young and Charlie Young, Sr.

Charlie attended school in Leary, Georgia. He was a member of Bethel C.M.E. Church in Leary, Georgia, where he served as a Steward for several years. Being civic minded Charlie also served as a City Council Member for the City of Leary. He designed and built the "Welcome to Leary" sign on Highway 55.

Charlie was united in Holy Matrimony to Kathryn Louise Robinson in 1957.

Preceding him in death are his father; Charlie Young, Sr.; his mother Everline Young; his sister Irene Bellamy; and several aunts, uncles, adopted sisters and brothers.

As a young man he took responsibility for his mother and sister. He began working at the age of 16. Charlie was a man of many talents and a master craftsman. He labored for more than 67 years as a self taught and trained carpenter. His talents were not limited to just carpentry, he was also an electrician, plumber, and furniture designer and builder. Charlie enjoyed gardening and giving. He planted a garden each year and supplied the community with the fruits of his labor.

On the morning of Friday, March 15, 2013, Charlie made a quiet transition with the coverage, grace and dignity as he departed this life at the Willson Hospice House.

Charlie leaves those whom will continue to love and cherish his legacy, his wife Kathryn R. Young; his children; Gail (Wayne) Smith, Lenward Brown, AL Young, Valerie (Carlton) Pittman; his grandchildren; Staci, Weston, Kanetra, Justin, Jordan, Selena, Alexis, special cousins Sara Barnett, the late Artis (Ruth) Young and family, a special daughter-in-law Shelia Young, special friends Freddie, Rhonda, Tyler, and Claire Carlisle and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other close relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be conducted Thursday, March 21, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Bethel CME Church in Leary. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held on today, Wednesday, March 20, 2013 from 9:00 AM until 8:30 PM at M. L. King Southside Chapel, 1908 M. L.
