CAMILLA -- Irene Vines Akridge, 91, of Camilla, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at UniHealth Magnolia Manor South in Moultrie.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday, March 22, 2013 at Pinecliff Baptist Church with interment in Akridge Cemetery. Rev. Joe Poitevint will officiate.
Active pallbearers will be Kent Thomas, Jeff Thomas, Scott Thomas, Jack Williams, T.E. Moye, Kenny Shiver, and Bruce Vines. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Pinecliff Baptist Church.
Born January 5, 1922 in Mitchell County, Mrs. Akridge was the daughter of the late Ernest T. and Avie Hatcher Vines. She was married to the late Thomas E. Akridge, Jr. Mrs. Akridge had formerly worked for GFA and Farmers Home Administration and was also a homemaker. She was a member of Pinecliff Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Thomas E. "Tommy" Akridge, III of Camilla; three grandchildren, Dr. Chaltsy A. Carlton of Augusta, Dr. Camille J. Akridge of Moultrie, and Austin E. Akridge of Moultrie; one sister, Vivian Vines Thomas and husband, Ross, of Roswell; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 12:00 - 1:00 PM, Friday, one hour before services, at Pinecliff Baptist Church.
