Sylvester --The funeral services for the late Mr. Jasper Nether of 2111 Ga. Hwy. 256, Sylvester, Georgia, who departed this life on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia, will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. from the Jones Chapel AME Church in Sylvester, Georgia with the Reverend Arthur J. Gass, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Shepard Memorial Garden Cemetery in Sylvester, Georgia.

Mr. Jasper Nether was born on April 11, 1914 in Buena Vista (Marion County), Georgia to the late Reverend and Mrs. Rudolph and Elizabeth Shipp Nether.

At an early age, Jasper gave his life to Christ and joined Jones Chapel AME Church in Sylvester, Georgia. He was a member for over 60 years, and was an active member of the Steward and Trustee Boards.

Jasper has been a longtime resident of Sylvester, Georgia where he farmed and raised cattle.

Jasper entered the U. S. Army for a short stint in 1944 during World War II. He also worked at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany, Georgia until he retired.

He was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Mrs. Irene Black Nether on March 1, 1951. This union was blessed with two sons and three daughters.

He leaves to carry on his legacy his sons, Willie Carl (Juanita) Nether of Mechanicsville, Maryland, Johnny Mack (Diane) Nether of Sylvester, Georgia; daughters, Mary Frances (Henry) McKinney of Albany, Georgia, Anne (Rev. Arthur) Gass of Zion, Illinois, Ima Jean ( Chester) Walker of Sylvester, Georgia; fourteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Rose Nether of Sylvester, Georgia; a loving caretaker, Debra A. Jefferson of Sylvester, Georgia

The Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, March 27, 2013 from 6:00 p.m-7:00 p.m..
