Squawk of the day - April 1, 2013

"Thanks to Obamacare, a generic drug that I have taken for years (doxycyline) at a price of just over $5 a month now costs $77 per month. Thanks Mr. President. You are doing such a great job. My fixed income just took a real hit."

As Pelosi said "We have to pass it so we can find out what's in it"

She's a disgrace to humanity.

I'll bet this isn't going to be the last surprise from the Affordable Healthcare Act. Most of Congress had not read, much less understood, the bill before voting on it. Oh yeah, but their healthcare is not a part of the bill.

Just wait until 1/1/14 when the one percent surcharge kicks in at your bank. That was a "hidden" part of the Otrauma Bill. Beginning 1/1/14 bank customers will be assessed a 1% fee for all deposits and "withdrawals of any kind" from accounts. If you deposit $1200, you will pay a $12 tax to the govt; then when you write your mortgage check or have it automatically deducted from your account another 1% of that amount will be assessed by the govt. Georgiagranny is right, no one will be able to "make ends meet".

Just an FYI, I think you're confusing Obamacare with the Debt Free America Act which was never voted on by Congress and was floated in 2004.

Look into alternatives for this drug. You may be able to get it cheaper at other places. This drug seems to be a bit pricey to begin with. It may not be just Obamacare that is causing this. The co-pays of a lot of insurances were going to go up. Just a matter of time. $155 for a drug and you only paid $5. You were very lucky. Many insurance premiums were rising way before Obamacare. Co pays as well as deductibles were rising on many companies. You should be thankful that you have it. Ask your doctor if there are cheaper alternatives. You may be surprised.

GeeGee--are you ad damned ObamaCare supporter? Got news for you sweetheart--OBAMACARE IS THE REASON EVERYTHING RELATED TO THE MEDICAL PROFESSION IS GOING UP. EVEN VETERNARIANS ARE HAVING TO CHARGE MORE BECAUSE THE PRICE OF EQUIPMENT IS GOING UP!! As far as premiums going up--that started when it appeared obamacare was going to pass. I know someone personally whose premiums were raised 7 percent before ObamcaCare passed and has now increased 83 percent since it passed. By the way, I can't afford insurance now, what makes people think I can afford it when I am forced to buy it? Yep, my income is fixed and the President Jackass administration fixed it real good!!

No, I am not an Obama supporter and do not put words in my mouth. I get my drugs from Canada. One third the cost.

It is sad when people are in denial about what is causing these large increases with medical treatments and drugs. They want to believe so badly that their vote would count for improvements, yet time and time again Obama and his admin (including Pelosi) have manipulated the masses into believing their lies.

Watch their trends of behaviour, and don't rely on their false words and promises. When we have record deficits and a sequester going on, and Obama and his famiily, and his admin continue to go on non-critical trips and spend lavishly, you are being taken for the fools that they think you are.

Health insurance is projected to rise 80% in Ohio, 60% in Cali and less elsewhere. I think the average is over 30%. Feds are now admitting that all costs will raise. Illegals are already admitted into Obamacare. Most of the people who voted for Obama will pay nothing, but get ready for a raise in animosity. When someone walks away with a bag of prescriptions for no pay and the person behind pays more of their weakening dollar. The "free drug" person should not be surprised if the paying person does not wish you a good day..

I am 65 and have never known a president that could take control of everything going over congress to pass what he wants. The people that voted him in, the dead, the alive, and the ones that voted multiple times will still get their freebies. The working class and the retired are the ones that will suffer. And yes Bush took vacations, but they were at his home in Texas, not some high class place that all of us together could not afford as does this current man in our white house does or his family. May God have mercy on our country. Amen RedEric, re the free drug person.

I think our country is right at the tipping point where there are almost more people on the dole than there are people paying taxes. When there are not enough tax payers to take care of those who do not pay.....GAME OVER. Our country will fall. Perhaps the ones who will then cry the loudest will be those who were on the dole.

I think the takers will cry loudest as they do not understand " out of money". When money shows up in the mailbox every month you don't understand the effort that goes into it's generation. There is no rainy day to save for. When the money stops there will be blood.

No they don't understand "out of money" since they roll in a BMW, have a 52" flat screen, DISH TV, and eat out several nights a week and no visible means of support other than the Overseer, Uncle Sam.

J.D. Sumner in that the "Debt Free America" bill has not passed even a Congressional Committee since being introduced some seven (7) years ago. Read his link and be educated on this.

Not sure what's going on with the squawker, but the part D of Medicare enacted under W has been a significant contributor of the rise in cost of medicines. The agreement was that Medicare would not be able to purchase medications at wholesale/volume hence we would get stuck as taxpayers. Obama said he was going to fix that but like so many things he promised, hasn't come through. Veterans' medicines are purchased through a wholesale agreement and are fantastically priced.
