WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Robert Menendez, the chairman of the influential Senate Foreign Relations Committee, introduced a bill on Monday that would provide weapons to some vetted groups of Syrian rebels.

Should the U.S. arm Syrian rebels?

  • Yes 7%
  • No 93%

15 total votes.

Menendez, a Democrat, was one of a few senators pushing the White House to provide for lethal aid to some of the rebels fighting the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad even before reports that chemical weapons had been used in the conflict.

The bill would have to get through the committee and be approved by both the Senate and House of Representatives, and signed by President Barack Obama before becoming law.

Check your history facts, FT. Democrats have led us into war almost every time since 1900.

Your point being? I don't give a rat's behind what party is in power. Short of our country and direct sovereignty being attacked I am against it. Nonpartisan here.

Melendez supports Muslims because they have that handy weekend wedding option.

This Menendez character has lost his durn mind. We armed the Afghans when Russia invaded them in the eighties. Just this past weekend we had soldiers in Afghanistan killed by IED's probably left over from the Soviet Afghan war. What is it going to take for our leaders to wake up and realize that these ragheads aren't our friends. The only contact we should be having with these Arabs should be in the form smartbombs and plenty of them. At some point in time, diplomacy should yield to common sense.
