DAWSON -- Marie Israel-Manry died on May 6, 2013 at her home, Magnolia Manor in Americus, GA. "Absent from the body, present with the Lord." She was born July 29, 1927 in Ellaville, GA to Lena and Wesley Driver. She is survived and was loved by her husband of three years, William "Sonny" Manry; sons, Dan and wife Judy Israel of Raleigh, NC, Renza and wife Georgia Ann Israel of Colquitt, GA, and Gay and wife Karan Israel of Fort Collins, CO; and by her sister, Estelle Battle of Orlando, FL. She was also dearly loved by 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband of 45 years, Alva "Scrap" Israel and daughter, Judy Israel-Burgess.

Marie raised her family of four with her husband Alva on a small farm near Bronwood while earning her B.S degree in Education from Georgia Southwestern College in 1974 and concurrently working as a librarian in the Kinchafoonee Regional Library for 33 years, where she drove a Bookmobile for 30 years. She was a faithful member of the Bronwood Baptist Church for 57 years, where she served in many roles including Sunday school teacher and WMU leader for 15 years. During retirement she enjoyed the fellowship of friends at the Dawson Senior Center and in the Bronwood community. Throughout her life she faithfully ministered to the needs of people in her community. In August 2007, she moved to Magnolia Manor where she embraced all the activities in the Manor community, and served in several leadership roles, including President of the Christian Women of Magnolia Manor.

A visitation will be held Friday, May 10, 2013 from 7:00 - 8:30 PM at Harvey Funeral Home in Dawson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 11th at 11:00 AM at the Bronwood Baptist Church, followed by interment at the Williams Cemetery near Smithville. A memorial service will then be held at Magnolia Manor at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bronwood Baptist Church, P.O. Box 38, Bronwood, GA 39826 or to Magnolia Manor - The League of the Good Samaritan, 2001 South Lee Street, Americus, GA 31709.
