ALBANY -- Rex Byrd, 86, of Albany, GA, died May 3, 2013 at his residence. A private graveside funeral service was held Monday, May 6, 2013.

A native of Enterprise, AL, Mr. Byrd moved to Albany, GA in 1957. He was employed with Flint River Mills for thirty five years and worked part time at the Harvey Stores on Slappey Boulevard and Dawson Road in Albany. He was the widower of Bobbie Nell Creel Byrd, was a former member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and attended Faith Baptist Church.

Survivors include two children, William Byrd and his wife, Karen of Albany, GA and Cindy and her husband, Mark of San Diego, CA, a brother, Leon Byrd and his wife, Kay of Opp, AL, two grandchildren, Lyndsay Veal and her husband, Dewey of Albany, GA and Mark Barrett of San Diego, CA, two great-grandchildren, Olivia Veal and LillyAnn Ruth Veal, a special friend, Bill Barrett of Leesburg, GA and his beloved pet, Salem.

The family was at the residence of William and Karen Byrd, 2024 Sharon Avenue, Albany, GA, 31707.
