Fallen police officer to be honored on Monday

ALBANY — A memorial ceremony has been set for fallen Dougherty County Police Officer Thomas Clifford (Cliff) Rouse. A plaque will be dedicated in his honor at the ceremony.

Lt. Cliff Rouse died Dec. 23, 2010, gunned down while responding to an armed robbery of a convenience store in east Dougherty County. A bullet struck Rouse just below the bottom edge of his protective vest.

At 2 p.m. Monday, the memorial plaque — mounted to the outside of the Doughterty County Police Department at 2106 Habersham Road — will dedicated to Rouse’s memory.

According to Chad Kirkpatrick, DCP detective, there will be a memorial service.

Rouse’s family, officers, judges and officials have been invited to attend.
