ALBANY -- Mrs. Rena Mae Cail Hofheinz, 88, of Leesburg, GA died Thursday May 9, 2013 at her residence.
The funeral service will be held 11 AM Saturday (today) at Crown Hill Mausoleum Chapel with interment to follow in the cemetery. Rev. Charles Jones and Rev. Charlie Brown will officiate.
Mrs. Hofheinz moved to Albany after retiring from the Comptroller's Office of The State of Florida in 1990. She has been a faithful member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church where she was an Assistant Teacher for the Martha Sunday School Class. She was a Church Librarian, Member of the Senior Choir, and The Happy Hearts as well as the Woman's Missionary Union. She was also a life time member of the Crepe Myrtle Chapter of Eastern Star, Forget-Me-Not Club and Golden Key Club of Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Hofheinz was a Devoted Volunteer-Pink Lady at Palmyra Park Hospital and ran the gift shop. Her membership extended to the H2U Club at Palmyra as well.
She was best known by friends as "The GO-GO GRANNY". She earned this reputation by virtue of her many travels. She had visited all Seven Continents, North and South American, Antarctica, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia as well as Iceland, The Galapagos Island and all 50 States.
Mrs. Hofheinz donated her extensive private travel Library to Lee County in 2012. She also traveled as a Missionary on Five Trips with Byne Memorial Baptist Church.
She loved to tell everyone, "That the best trip would be the one Jesus paid for "Her last trip, her trip home".
She was preceded in death by her husband William Hofheinz.
A Beloved Christian Mother she is survived by her son Ronald Edmond Cail, and his wife Pat of Snellville, GA; a daughter Ellen Bryant Nofi and her husband Ed of Leesburg, GA; a son Clifford Murry Cail, Jr. and his wife Dawn of Rome, GA; She has six grandchildren and Eight Great-grandchildren.
