Sasser venue to host country star Cagle

SASSER, Ga. — Country star Chris Cagle, who’s released two No. 1 albums and a slew of Top 10 hits since coming to Nashville in 1994, will headline the season’s kickoff event at the Sasser Flea Market May 24.

Touring in support of his 2012 release “Back in the Saddle,” which reached the Top 10 of the Billboard Country Albums chart, Cagle — the man who took “I Breathe In, I Breathe Out” to the top of the Country Singles chart — will join Georgia Music Award nominees Highway 55, Naturally Southern and Hatcher Station for the big night of country music, presented by the Sasser Flea Market and J.A.R. Productions.

“Our company and Dee’s (West, who owns and manages the flea market) have both been doing concerts for a while now,” J.A.R. Productions’ Austin McAlpin said. “Both parties are friends, and we decided it would be a great move if we joined forces. We feel that with everything both sides bring to the table, the sky is the limit on what we can do in South Georgia.”

Cagle, who was born in Louisiana and raised in Texas, released his two chart-topping albums in 2003 (“Chris Cagle”) and 2008 (“My Life’s Been a Country Song”). In addition to the No. 1 “Breathe,” he’s climbed into the country Top 10 with hits such as “Laredo,” “Chicks Dig It,” “What Kinda Gone,” “What a Beautiful Day” and “Got My Country On.”

Tickets for the 7 p.m. show are $20 in advance and $30 the day of the show. Advance tickets are available at the Sasser Flea Market, Southern Elegance and Plum Southern in Albany, Moultrie Gold Buyers, The Warehouse in Dawson, Leesburg Flowers and Gifts, Cuttin’ Up Salon in Americus, Adel Outfitters and The Gin in Tifton.

Also at the show, $1 raffle tickets will be sold on chances to win a Cagle-autographed Martin guitar.

Gates open at 5:30 p.m., and music starts at 7 p.m.
