ALBANY, Ga. — One of the Albany Area Crime Stoppers Most Wanted fugitives has been apprehended, thanks to a tipster.

According to Capt. Craig Dodd with the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office, Allen Dale Timbes, 27, was arrested about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday for failure to register as a sex offender.

Timbes was found at No. 5 Sutton Place, a mobile home park on Oakridge Drive, Dodd said. According to officials, The fugitive was taken into custody after sheriff’s deputies knocked on his door and Timbes answered.

Dodd said convicted sex offenders such as Timbes are required to register each year and Timbes had gone past his deadline. Officials say offenders are liable for stiff penalties, ranging from 90 days or less in jail for first-timers to possible prison time for repeat offenses. This was the first offense for Timbes, Dodd said.

According to Dodd, Timbes’ arrest came directly from one or more anonymous tips originating with Timbes’ May 10 description in The Albany Herald Crime Stoppers Most Wanted feature or from a similar feature on Fox 31 News.

Crime Stoppers tips for any crime can be left anonymously and tips that lead to arrests are eligible for cash rewards. Details are available at www.albanycrimestoppers.com.
