Crisp Academy's Jordan Howard hit a big home run in Game 2 of Friday's quarterfinal matchup with Robert Toombs, helping the Wildcats come from behind to win the game and the series.
CORDELE – A late rally highlighted by a Jordan Howard home run gave Crisp Academy a two-game sweep of Robert Toombs in Friday’s GISA Class A quarterfinals matchup.
After winning the opening game, 8-5, the Wildcats scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning of Game No. 2 to win, 14-9.
In the opener, Rush Brown was the winning pitcher, and Chip Posey got the save.
Crisp starter Jeff McKinney was knocked out early in the second game, and Robert Toombs took a 9-5 lead, but the Wildcats tied the game at 9-9 in the top of the sixth inning.
In the top of the seventh, Howard capped a five-run rally with a home run. Howard was also the winning pitcher after tossing two no-hit innings in relief, and James Wesell got the save.
The Wildcats are now in the Final 4 for the fourth straight year and will play Bethlehem Christian in the semifinals, starting Friday.

With RSS shutting its doors at the end of this school year, the baseball team’s postseason run was the final chapter of the GISA Class A school in Shellman, but the Patriots were swept, 8-6 and 14-1, in Friday’s quarterfinals matchup with David Emanuel.
Southwest Georgia Academy lost Game 1 of its Class AA quarterfinals series vs. Brentwood, 8-1, and will play Game 2 and possibly a winner-take-all Game 3 today.
