"Chamber of Commerce officials are trying so hard to bring more people and more business to the area. If you want to live in a bigger city, then move to Atlanta or Columbus."

Never grow, under educated, keep everything the same as the 1960s, stereotypes of the south mentality. Albany is dying a slow death because of this attitude.

That is exactly what they are doing. The hard working taxpayers are leaving Albany in droves. You have left gangs welfare people who are retired and have nothing to gain by moving. If you really want to stay here that is your choice, but the young blood is already gone.

I agree wholeheartedly. Albany is a far cry from the nice community it was when I cam here more than 35 years ago! Sorry to say, it's been downhill since that time. I'm sure every community has its share of welfare and gangs, but it's overwhelmingly in the majority here in "the good life city." I'd say it ain't gonna change!

In response to the original squawk, one could argue that the Chamber of Commerce is trying to bring business and industry here not so much to make it a bigger city but to provide jobs for the citizens to improve their quality of life. Albany has it's troubles to be sure, but we shouldn't be so negative or sarcastic when groups like the chamber is trying to do something positive.

Just look at all the new businesses downtown. All the fine dining and stores are amazing.

Atlanta plays in Gwinnett, Columbus plays in Harris County and north Columbus. Northwest Albany is where your commercial development should be focused on. Until you get a foot hold on some of the going ons downtown, I'll drive to Columbus to have a good time.

Albany area is around 70% minority (which don't make sense.. Learned in school 70% could not be a minority) any way...stats show when that happens it leads to more poverty.. More entitlements.. More crime..white flight...Hard to sell outside businesses to locate here...it's a hard fix..

Take the folks who are dragging Albany down... And give them a bus ticket to New York, a little spending money and make it clear that they can't come back... Ever.

If they do that Jimboob they'll only be a few thousand people left. That would be the only way to save this city.

Well there will be 30% of us left. That's about how many pay taxes now.

Just think about this when is the last time you heard of the Chamber or even EDC doing Anything in NW Albany. No they are trying to drive square pegs in round holes downtown and east and south Albany. Everywhere except where the growth opportunities really are!!!"
