Two vehicles collide in Friday morning wreck

ALBANY, Ga. — Two occupants of a van were taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital following a wreck in downtown Albany on Friday morning.

Whitney Wingate, 24, was traveling east on Pine Avenue in a 1994 Honda Civic while 64-year-old Bertha McCode was traveling north on Jefferson Street in a 2012 Dodge Caravan at around 7:50 a.m. Wingate was reportedly in the right lane traveling down Pine when police say she ran a red light and struck the front left tire of McCode’s vehicle, said Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the Albany Police Department.

McCode and a passenger were taken to Phoebe for further observation. Wingate received a citation for a red light violation, Banks said.

When the laws catch up, 2nd citation " Texting while Driving"... Pull the record and it is there. Texting while driving now according to reports accounts for more deaths than Drinking and Driving... Not Good!!!
