Tift drug force nets suspect, cash

TIFTON, Ga. — The Tift County Sheriff's Office and the Mid-South Narcotics Task Force have seized possible drug storage equipment and $121,000 in cash at a Tifton residence, officials say.

According to Tift County Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer David Haire, a May 7 search at 905 36th St. in Tifton netted several large plastic containers in the attic crawl space. The containers are suspected to contain marijuana reside, Haire said.

A resident at the address, Daniel Eubanks, 36, was arrested earlier by drug agents with the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office when he attempted to purchase approximately 50 pounds of marijuana from an undercover officer in Lowndes County. According to Haire, Tift deputies and agents with the Mid-South Narcotic Task Force had been conducting surveillance of Eubanks prior to his arrest.

Eubanks has been charged with trafficking in marijuana and use of a communications facility and is currently in the Lowndes County Jail, where he is listed on its website as "not bailable."

Only a gazillion more tons of pot to confiscate. Is this an unwinable war or what?

Take the black market out of the equation and youll see a lot less big beemers and non violent criminals locked up with violent offenders.

Why do so many former smokers dig in on the legalization issue? Including you sir or madam.

Meanwhile the same fools want to make guns illegal. Have we not learned nothing from the war on drugs? from prohibition? No, we haven't.

A lot of folks want to make things legal or illegal, only when it's beneficial to them. For now, pot is illegal in Georgia, deal with it.

Do you realize rapist and murderers get paroled to make room for non violent pot offenders? I wish someone would deal with that sad situation. Who would you rather have in your neighborhood?
