Recently, I had the good fortune to hear a talk by the vice president of the Georgia Right to Life. He presented interesting but disturbing statistics about the abortion industry in the U.S. The huge number of 55-plus million abortions since Roe v Wade in 1973 can be broken down to one fetus every 23 seconds. Since I began typing this, three fetuses were aborted.
In the United States there are two species of animals that are so well-protected that a person found in possession of eggs faces tremendous fines. The sea turtle and the bald eagle are endangered species, and I support protecting them. The fine for having turtle eggs in possession or destroying a turtle nest carries a fine of $100,000 and up to a year in prison. Possession of a bald eagle egg will bring a $200,000 fine and up to two years in prison. A human fetus can be destroyed without a fine or a prison term. Folks, something is dreadfully wrong with this.
Planned Parenthood says that a woman has the right to decide to abort her fetus because it is her body. Some pseudo-intellectuals have espoused the thought that a fetus and a newborn baby do not have the same rights that older-than-newborn babies have. It is easy for someone who is searching for justification to believe this absurdity. There is a physical law that states that for every action, there is an opposite and equal reaction. So it is with abortion. The reactions cannot be measured, but rest assured that they are there! God will not bless this country with this practice.
We need to repent of this great sin and reverse course in the life of America. We need to fill God-fearing churches, and we need to spend a whole lot of time on our knees.
