I'm missing something here! lol Don't get the msg. of this squawk!
Better put, "A dry well doesn't produce enough water to raise a crop." There has to be some point where the Government will get out of the Charity Business due to a lack of funding.
With this POS in the white house it will be when all the working people quit. Who do you think will support the 44% of DOCO school kids who don't graduate. They all learned from useless parents on how to abuse the system
That's a broad,dumb statement
Its a true statement dog, sorry I offended you if your one of them.
Maybe you do not understand it because you happen to be one of these they are talking about. When you form a non-profit, it is up to you to have your source of revenue or a way to make it, not depend on the government to foot the bill. One gets Paula Deen to have a dinner is a way. There are many others, so you should not expect taxpayers to foot the bill. Some taxpayers may not agree with your politics or beliefs. We went to war over this in 1776. We are about to have another situ, maybe not a war, but something in brewing. You can feel it in the air.
I think that ship has sailed my friend
Every once in a while when I talk to friends up north I will read excerpts of articles about giveaway programs from the Herald. After two or three they will protest that I am making it up. Most people in the country honestly don't know the extent of welfare. Welfare encompasses far more than a check every month. $10+ million to remodel a $2.5 property. $30 per month average rent. Only half of the properties paying taxes. About then they say,"that is enough of those stories".
Haha, Red......I did the same thing....after a while they didn't believe me till I told them to come to this web page. Now they are true believers. I have spent most of May going to college and high school graduations and the topic of welfare and entitlements has come up a lot, especially with those parents getting ready to send their child/children off to college. There is resentment among them about how the welfare kids get a free ride and seldom ever make it thru the first quarter of their first year of college. The parents who have worked hard to provide for their children resent the fact too that so much scholarship money is wasted on idiots who can carry or bounce a ball but not read or write. One of the observers, a very elegant looking lady behind me, at a recent graduation made a comment during the ceremony. The speaker asked, as most do during the awarding of the diplomas, that the applause be held until each child had received their diploma and then they could applaud. Of course the speaker's words fell on deaf ears, as the whooping and hollering started when a segment of students began to walk. She said "that is probably their grandparents who raised them doing the whooping and hollering. I hope they take pictures because it is probably the last time they will see one of them getting a diploma." Then one young man started to walk to receive his and put on a show....pretending to drop his diploma and his crowd laughed and carried on as if he gave a fantastic comedy routine. He then bowed and walked off the stage. Then I again heard the lady behind me say that he was 19 and already had 2 baby mamas....one child was 4 (YES 4!) and the other was 2. Kinda made me want to jump out of my seat and tackle him and choke him. Ah, the wonders of the welfare world we live in.
It's a response to John Hayes's idiotic statement that people demanding free stuff is an example of Democracy at work. He's a lunatic.
Would you provide a reference for John Hayes' statement?
Don't you actually read the paper, FT? Or do you just comment on the comments?
County ponders library reopening
by Carlton Fletcher
Don't know about that one but a few years ago John Hayes commented in a meeting I attended that DoCo can't have property tax reform to lower property tax because we had 29% of the people below the poverty level. In other words, in his opinion, it seems property tax exists to support programs for the poor. Democracy at work I suppose.
Just as I suspected you completely misquoted and used his reference to service completely out of context. The question to you is do you actually understand what is printed in the paper or are you so intellectually dishonest that you continuously try to set up blacks to then knock them down with specious arguments?
I stand by my statement.

"When people rightfully demand a service and they see their demands being considered, that's democracy at work."
WRONG! Democracy is not about some sub-group of people "DEMANDING" something. It's about the majority evaluating the cost and benefit of doing something, agreeing that something should be done, assessing the cost to do it, providing the funds to meet the cost, and then doing it without increasing the deficit. THAT is DEMOCRACY.
That is democracy at work in its most effective form. You should read the first amendment of the US Constitution and familiarize yourself with the right to seek redress. If citizens aren't free to seek redress you don't have democracy. Which is what you do not understand.
You not only don't understand what you read you don't understand what you have written either. You have taken Hayes' comment completely out of context and re-written it to suit your contorted mental machinations. He was addressing library services which are made available to citizens in the community and using their demands for consideration and his statement was it is right to consider it.
I think we should all agree to re-name Albany with a name from out of the wild, wild west: The Lazy-A Ranch.
How about Little Bighorn since the taxpayer is being massacred? Fitting.
I think the squawker is saying we are being taxed to death. The guvment is stomping a mudhole in us and walking us dry.
If government funded all that it wanted to fund, including much of what we and others want it to fund, property taxes would be so high no one could afford to own property. Government is going to get its money and if you don't have it, assets will be foreclosed on or seized.
Here's your sign
Former Lee County resident charged with unemployment fraud
I have yet to hear the solution that this local area or country proposes to offer to address the centuries of stolen wages from a significant portion of the poor people who are castigated in these postings so often. Nothing from nothing leaves nothing. That is what America is guilty of when it condoned stealing wages from people and creating a system to ensure that they would be virtually wealthless for centuries to come.
So stop all the crying about the poor and find a solution to address the stolen wealth. Look at the math, 1/3 of the country makes less than 25,000!!! Why? Because the same robber barrons in different clothing are still stilling from the masses.
I hope that democracy's face will be saved one day by doing the right thing. Castigate those who created this mess, not those who are trying to survive it.
