ALBANY — After extensive renovations and corporate re-branding, Albany’s Jameson Inn is now known as Baymont Inn and Suites.
Baymont executives and employees joined Albany Area Chamber of Commerce and Albany Convention and Visitors Bureau representatives in rededicating the hotel with a gathering held on-site Wednesday.
“We’re really happy to have Baymont here,” said Chris Hardy, president and CEO of the chamber. “The hotel and staff are great supporters of the chamber. We’re pleased they are continuing their relationship with Albany.”
Hotel General Manager Tim Hardwick, said the name change came about when parent company Channel Point Hospitality decided to re-brand its hotel franchise, giving it not only a new name but a new look.
“This is our unveiling to the city of Albany of who were are,” said Hardwick. “We’ve completed a great deal of renovations and we are very proud of the results. We’re excited. We love doing business in Albany.”
The name change also marks the hotel’s new affiliation with Wyndham Hotels and Suites. Becoming part of the Wyndham family, along with other Albany hotels Super 8, Wyndham Hotel and Days Inn, will allow Baymont to offer a reward program to its patrons.
“Our guests have asked about a rewards program for years,” said Hardwick. “Jameson was a great brand and won numerous awards, but it didn’t have a reward program. The change in name allows us to offer rewards and it gives us national visibility.
The 65-room hotel, originally opened as Jameson Inn in 1995, is located at 2720 Dawson Road. It features single- and double-occupancy with double or king size beds. The hotel also offers smoking and non-smoking rooms.
